Year after
year Ford has proudly produced vehicles that America has owned and loved. This
will continue as well in 2010 as Ford releases its new line of crossovers, the
Edge, Escape and Flex. The Escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with
credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road
outings. The Escape is available in XLS, XLT or Limited trims with either front
or four-wheel drive. The XLS features a 171-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine
and five-speed manual transmission. The XLT and Limited trims feature the same
2.5-liter engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 240-hp 3.0-liter V6
is an available upgrade on Limited models. Standard safety features include
front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags and side-curtain airbags for
front and rear passengers. AdvanceTrac stability control with anti-rollover
technology, four-wheel ABS and tire pressure monitoring round-out the
impressive list. For 2010, Ford Escape adds five new features that improve
safety, reduce driver distractions and aid drivers. Integrated Blind Spot
Mirrors, MyKey, a Rear View Camera System and Active Park Assist are all now
available to Escape owners, and Escape is one of the first Ford vehicles to feature
the latest-generation hands-free SYNC system
- now with Traffic, Directions & Information - helping reduce distractions
while accessing important route and safety information. The new technologies
build on Escape's unsurpassed crash ratings - a "Top Safety Pick" award from
the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and 5-star government ratings
in all crash tests. The new Active Park
Assist system uses sensors on the front and rear of the vehicle, working in
conjunction with Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS), to guide the vehicle
into a parking space. The 2010 Escape Limited Hybrid is packaged for
environmentally conscious buyers who still want a full complement of
accessories and equipment. This year, Escape Hybrid returns 34 mpg in the city
and 31 mpg on the highway, allowing you to do more and go farther with less
fuel. The Escape starts out around $20,550.

The Edge continues to turn heads as well being one of Fords most popular vehicle. The Ford Edge Greenville NC is a five-passenger crossover sport utility that answers the call for a roomy vehicle with utility and style. It isn't a truck. Nor is it a minivan. Yet it's more than a car. For 2010, the bold Ford Edge crossover delivers spirited performance and a smooth, quiet ride from its 265-horsepower V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency has also improved in the Edge stepping up to 18 mpg city/25mpg highway in the Front Wheel Drive model and 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway in the All Wheel Drive model. Edge also delivers on safety, with a host of standard features like Ford's exclusive AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control), leading to a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and side and front five-star crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Customers looking for a sportier appearance and a personalized vehicle will continue to appreciate the Edge Sport, with standard 20-inch wheels. Add the available Panoramic Vista Roof and open up a whole world of possibilities. Standard safety features include Ford's AdvanceTrac roll stability control as well as Ford's safety canopy side curtain airbag system. The 2010 Ford Edge's available intelligent all-wheel-drive system helps maintain performance in poor weather by monitoring and predicting traction and delivering torque to all four wheels before they begin to slip. Edge for 2010 also is available with Ford SYNC - with no monthly fees - the industry-first system of voice-activated control and connectivity for mobile phones and MP3 players. The newest SYNC feature provides Traffic, Directions & Information, with turn-by-turn route guidance and the capability to access and personalize content. Edge can also be optioned with a voice-activated navigation system featuring SIRIUS Travel Link, which gives drivers and passengers access to up-to-the-minute information and entertainment including coast-to-coast (48 contiguous states and D.C.) coverage of real-time traffic in select markets and weather reports; fuel options from more than 120,000 stations sorted by price and distance; major league pro and college sports as well as movie listings from more than 4,500 theaters. Other features include an in-cabin ambient lighting package and such customer-friendly standard features as passenger grab handles and a cargo management system with four hooks, two tie-downs and a cargo net. Also available are 20-inch wheels and a universal garage door opener. Another nice feature on this vehicle is the Panoramic Vista Roof. The panoramic Vista Roof opens up a whole world of possibilities. The large glass moon roof provides a grand view of the sky and a sense of freedom that accentuates Edge's sporting nature. You can get the Edge for around $26,920.

The last model in the crossover line that Ford offers is a unique vehicle sure to impress. If you have a family and are looking for a vehicle that can handle the kids, or if you're simply looking for a spacious, powerful, technologically-advanced and utterly unique car that can accommodate almost any situation, then the 2010 Ford Flex is for you.The 2010 Ford Flex is a seven passenger crossover wagon in its second generation. The Flex is available in three trims - SE, SEL and Limited. All three models feature the standard 262-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6, while the new 355-horsepower, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 is optional on the SEL and Limited. The EcoBoost engine is designed to give you the power of a V-8 with the fuel-efficiency of a V-6. Speaking of fuel economy, the 2010 Flex receives 16-17 mpg in the city and 22-24 mpg on the highway. Flex continues to be provocative, with a planted stance, broad shoulders - flanked by signature side grooves - and an available contrasting two-tone roof, all of which shun traditional crossover styling. Inside, Flex provides space and comfort for up to seven, with the new Autofold 60/40 second-row split bench seat. A tilt/telescoping steering wheel aids driver comfort, while MyKey allows owners to program a maximum top speed - and radio volume - to encourage safe operation by teen drivers. The MyKey feature also helps Teen drivers by having a persistent Chime reminding the driver to fasten their seatbelt. Limited top speed of 80 mph, that I'm sure parents will love. Another nice feature of the MyKey function is the traction control system that limits tire spin and cannot be deactivated. You can even set the car to not play the audio system until the driver's seat belt is buckled. Another key feature on this vehicle that you may wonder about is how the EcoBoost makes the Flex have the power of a V8 but the fuel efficiency of a V6. Basically what happens is highly pressurized fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder rather than traditional mixing with the incoming air in the inlet port. Advantages include: more precise delivery of fuel for lower emissions, improved volumetric efficiency and avoidance of knock for better performance and fuel efficiency. Because of this system you will see more efficient use of fuel; drivers will experience fewer trips to the gas pump, while not having to sacrifice performance. The Flex starts out around $28,500.
